I did the texturing and made the render and did the lighting.

Nice illusion. If you don't mind my asking, what renderer did you use?

Hey, I just used the basic Maya 2011 render, nothing fancy. I spend some time light linking and making sure my textures would do most of the work. The only way I could make it work was through light linking, the render it self is nothing fancy at all.
Hope this helps you, I'm humbly sorry if it doesn't.
Thanks for the comment and the compliment.

Yes, thank you. I was just curious. I only really know Bryce for rendering, although I have tinkered with Terragen and failed miserably to get anything useful out of DS. Being mostly involved with the nitty gritty end of things, material mapping modes and light simulation, I feel I should learn more about other render engines - but somehow never seem to find the time. I make up for this inadequacy by being nosey about other peoples interesting renders.

Cheers,

David.

Not finding the time to do it, that's very familiar. The only reason I had
to do with rendering and such is because I did a game design course as an artist. Very intense and very helpful.
Don't do much 3D lately, trying to focus on 2D but even that doesn't seem to happen much. Thanks a lot for the interest, hope to keep in touch :)

Sounds like fun, a game design course... When I was at college (many moons ago) pixels were the size of house bricks. I am a big fan of games - which probably points to some terrible flaw in my personality. My current favourite - in which I die almost continually is FTL [link]
